Took over an hour to arrive. Called to complain and could not understand a word the person was saying. The food was terrible. Most of the dishes were cold and undercooked. Mango Lasi arrived in a soul bowl - not kidding. The people at Dakshin have no business running a restaurant. Buyer beware!

Great food, and lovely, helpful service. They went out of their way to help me with an order I wanted to alter recently, and their food is always excellent. Quick delivery, too.

Placed moved, dishes are quite small for the price (lunch specials).

We order the prix fix combo at least twice a week. It's always been great tasting and a good value!

The Ras Malai tasted as if it was off - perhaps because it was in the same bag as the hot food and it was supposed to be cold. Also the fish curry made me feel ill afterward. Overall not a great experience or good Indian food

It is not my top Indian delivery restaurant, howevere I order from Dakshin becaue it is clean, and also the chicken dishes are nice for my daughter, I am not a meet eater so I don't care so much about chicken.

Food ok, portions stingy

We order from Dakshin at least once a week. The food is reliably fast and consistently delicious. Some days are spicier than others. The naan is always warm and doughy, not thin and burnt as you sometimes find. The location/chef did change recently so the flavor is slightly different than months ago, but still great. The delivery person is friendly and even knocks on our door so as not to wake our children.

Bottomline: Terrible food; worse customer service. Do not be fooled by however many stars this restaurant will have by the time you read this (currently, it is rated four stars). Remember that most people who have terrible experiences just give up out of sheer frustration and do not bother coming back to the site to rate the restaurant. So, do not be fooled by the excessive number of stars that seamless web has assigned this restaurant. Long version: After waiting and waiting to receive an order confirmation, I called after thirty minutes and was accosted over the phone by three different people from the restaurant. My crime? Asking where my order was. Not one of the three goons was able to tell me whether they received an order from me, talk less of where my food was. Funny though that the restaurant still charged me for my order. They sure knew where the money was, huh? Worst of all, all of those I spoke with were rude, belligerent, and curt, as if their incompetence was my fault, when I simply asked them to help me understand where my food was. There is better food and better customer service to be found in NYC. Do not put yourself through the frustration I experienced.

Delivery took almost one hour and the sauce was salty, watery and did indeed taste like Campbell's tomato soup!! So bland; no spice AT ALL! I was there a few years ago and really enjoyed it as did my friends. I will not be ordering from here again.

Delivery can take a long time, food is average (i really like the meat samosa though), but I still order from here since they give you so much food in the pre-fixe deal that I can eat it for 3 meals straight. woohoo.

Used to be my favorite place to order in from but the last few months it's gone downhill. Time to find a new favorite.

I wish I could give this place no stars. Terrible, terrible place. The chicken tikka masala's sauce tasted like it came from a can of Campbell's tomato soup. Nothing tasted fresh and it tasted like it came pre-made and was poorly made. Ew.

A big, black hair in my rice!

There was nothing unique about the Aloo Gobi (potato & cauliflower) or Bharta (eggplant). And I was severely disappointed when I tried my Kheer (rice pudding) dessert. I wanted to try something new but I guess I made an expensive mistake.

Food was just OK. Delivery was lousy. Never got an email confirm. When I called an hour later to check in they bounced me between different people and never apologized. Wont order from them again. By the way, rice isn't included with anything...

This place TOTALLY messed up my order. First they gave me the wrong soup, and then when we cut into the "vegetable" samosas, one of them was MEAT! They barely apologized and only sent over one replacement samosa to make it up. Never ordering from here again.

Paneer Makhani is mmm mmm good!! One of my fav indian places on the UES to order from. Delivery is always with in time specified.

The food is good, but be prepared to wait. We live across the street and have waited for over an hour -- for the last time. Absolutely ridiculous wait time. We're regulars and have finally had enough.

Food has always been pretty good. Very slow delivery during peak times, however. Seems that between 7-8:30pm the orders take around 45-60 minutes to deliver rather than 15-30 minutes. Try to stay away from peak hours if possible.

Only ordered here once and probably won't again. The food isn't bad, it's just very, very average. Granted I only had the chicken tikka masala, but that's pretty much the standard by which I measure an Indian restaurant. This one was just okay, not spiced very well, and a bit too tomatoey. The garlic naan was more like naan with some garlic thrown on it at the last minute. Nothing special. If this place is close by and you're in a hurry, it's good enough. But if you want some really good Indian food, I'd keep searching.

maybe the best Indian food I've ever tasted in UES.

I am new to Indian food and now crave it all the time. The delivery time was just right. The basmati rice was lovely and fragrant and I got the shrimp coconut curry which was pretty mild, typical for this dish (good for me bc I am weak when it comes to spicy) Very authentic and I would order from here again.

Well, I ordered from Dakshin at 7.11pm and it is now 7.58pm and they are still not here. No phone call no nothing.. Cross them off the list..

The food is tastier than average Indian delivery on the Upper East Side, but the portions are rather small. Tamarind still has my vote for best in the area, but this is nice variety.

The food was...average. My garlic naan was burnt in certain area. Plus there was very little garlic on it. The delivery was speedy however I don't think I will order from here again.

it's hard to believe we actually found a good indian restaurant on the upper east side. we're indians so we know indian food. i love the panchrattan daal. my boyfriend loves the low prices. so don't you dare order from "tandoor oven". that place is a joke. stick with dakshin

Best Chicken Saag in the city, but they always burn the Naan.

The food is always really good but they can't seem to get the order completely correct. There's always something missing.
